Some
Requirements for Being a SPIRITeam Member
All members are
required to pass the
Paranormal Investigator Certification Course, a comprehensive program that will deepen your knowledge of paranormal
investigations as well as teach you our research techniques. This
course is self-paced and can be completed in as little as a few days. You will
then receive a Certificate of Completion along with the
designation, "CPI" (required for all members)
While everything on this
page is important, one of the biggest requirements for being a SPIRITeam
Member is that you MUST contribute in a meaningful way to the team and
to the paranormal field. We will only invite people who are absolutely
serious about researching the paranormal field in a professional
manner. We are NOT interested in folks who just want to experience the
"thrill of the hunt" as "weekend warriors," or are looking
for a hobby. Some ways that you can contribute include:
-
Writing articles
-
Doing or participating in
public presentations
-
Developing
different investigation techniques and equipment
-
Finding investigation
sites
-
Doing historical research
-
Reviewing
evidence, etc.
We want members who
would research the paranormal anyway with or without being on a team.
We are not asking for your soul; we are simply asking that if you
join, that you make sure you have the time and circumstances to be involved
You must
own a computer with internet access and be reasonably computer
literate; in other words, you need to be able to view pictures,
videos, and Adobe Acrobat PDF files
All
new members will serve a trial membership for 90 days. At that time, you will meet with the Chapter Director to
discuss a permanent membership. This requirement is not meant to worry
or concern you. It simply allows you an opportunity to check us out
and us an opportunity to confirm that you are a good fit
You
must not be drug or alcohol dependent, nor abuse drugs or alcohol
You
must have a valid driver's license, and a reasonably clean driving
record. If you have ever gotten a DUI (even if it "wasn't your
fault"), then please do not apply
You
must not have ever been convicted of a crime
You
must have a stable life (in most cases this includes a job) and be
able to invest a reasonable amount of time to the paranormal research
field
You
must have a cell phone (a shared cell phone does not count)
You
must have a car
You
must be serious, dependable, and reliable, including regular communication
You
must contribute to Team discussions and attend occasional Team meetings
You
must read and agree to the
SPIRITeam's Standards & Protocols
The
Benefits of Joining the SPIRITeam
You get to participate in potentially life-changing investigations and
research with a group of upbeat, positive, and professional people
You get the opportunity to discover more about our mysterious world
and existence
Although
directed by the Chapter Director, the SPIRITeam is a self-leading
team. That means that we are all equally committed to discovering the truth and we work
together to do so. The SPIRITeam is based on shared-leadership; it is
not a dictatorship
We strive to have fun and enjoy the process (we are Real-Live Human
Beings who don't take ourselves too seriously)
All members are given access to the Members
Only area of this website where different forums and tools for
investigations are located
All members given a free membership to ParaNexus.org
All members will receive a Certificate of Completion for the Paranormal Investigator
Certification Course
All members have
the opportunity to grow as human beings by association with us, this
includes basic life skills such as communication and relationships
The SPIRITeam is NOT your average paranormal research group. We are
striving to lead the field with a professional, free-thinking,
fresh-thinking approach
Members at Large
Members at Large are simply
people who wish to join the SPIRITeam, but do not have a Chapter in
their area currently. If this
describes your situation, you can still become a SPIRITeam member, but
you will fall under the Headquarters Chapter until such time that a
Chapter opens in your area (you may also inquire about starting a Chapter). Members at
Large are not allowed to conduct investigations under the the auspices
of the SPIRITeam unless there are at least two certified members
present. This type of membership is great for folks who are serious
about paranormal research and want to align with a professional group.
These types of members may assist the team by helping with evidence
review and other duties. Members at Large are full members and have
access to the SPIRITeam Members Area.
Associated Membership Costs
You
are strongly encouraged to purchase a Team T-shirt (approx. $20), or shirt. Many styles and
types of clothing are available from T-shirts to embroidered apparel
You must purchase the
Paranormal Investigator
Certification Course
Annual Membership Dues
are $25
Why are there membership
fees and dues? Because we are looking for good people who are serious about the
paranormal field. Experience has shown that when membership is free,
we often get less than dedicated members. When you join, we invest a
lot of effort and training into you, so we are looking for those who
are truly serious
